About this trip

Loved the experience. Everyone on the retreat were friendly and very accommodating. The food was spectacular and the yoga was a great learning experience. 

It was relaxing and attended by great people. The narratives about the trip could have been more descriptive. It was unfortunate we could not do the scheduled hot air balloon ride. The visit to the winery was excellent but following the 3.5 challenging hike was not the best scheduling.  Although we were told we would get a refund for that activity, no additional information has been provided.

Portugal was a wonderful and relaxing vacation away from the rat race of life.  I cannot say enough about Kendell and the way she leads a group.  This was my third trip with Kendell, and each one has been a great experience.  Yoga and meditation is her calling and the hike we went on was planned perfectly for this trip.  Looking forward for future retreats!

This trip was amazing in every way! Laura and Heather were incredible hosts and had a non-stop itinerary of exciting adventures organized for us. I thought the trip was well supported and Mathieu from Watse was an exceptional guide. Meals were ok, but protein was lacking and I am glad I brought my own as most were vegetarian and carb focused. Some of the refugio were jam packed w too many people in a room considering duffel,backpacks etc.

The trip explored the French, Italian, and Swiss Alps. Having the ability to stay in small towns along the way to fully immerse ourselves in the culture and explore. Our guide was fantastic and explained what to expect each day. The community that was created by Kendell in a few days is really a remarkable way to share this experience with strangers who became friends. 

Well I don't know that you can say more than that! I sincerely hope that you have the chance to travel with Laura again. Maybe Europe next time???

This was an amazing trip Host Laura Caldwell was so thoughtful and included so many special surprises.  It was beyond any expectation I had.  Co-host Heather brought humor and selfless support to the group.  The camaraderie and energy experienced amongst the group was exhilarating.

This was a great trip! It was wonderful to meet Laura and Heather who were amazing hosts. Tom and Jackson took great care of us and shared their knowledge of the area. The accommodations were fantastic and the coach was clean and very comfortable. It was fun spending time with like-minded women, thrifting, and eating. I got some great finds and pictures. Zanzibar: A Two-Part Review of an Unforgettable  Trip

I recently had the joy of traveling to Zanzibar with @offtheclocknurse, and I wanted to share both the amazing highlights and one major low point of the experience. This is a two-part review to give credit where it’s due and also be honest about what didn’t go so well. 

Part 1: The Magic of Zanzibar (this part gets 5 stars.) 
Traveling with @offtheclocknurse is always something special, and this trip was no exception. Her warmth, leadership, and ability to create a joyful, connected group experience truly made the journey unforgettable. One of the most surprising highlights was our visit to a local spice farm. I didn’t think I would care much about it, but walking through the gorgeous trees, learning about the origins and uses of different spices and fruits, and being guided by such passionate and caring locals completely blew my expectations. It was such a peaceful and enriching experience.

Other standout moments included visiting the red colobus monkeys and spending time with sea turtles. Both were powerful, joyful experiences that added something truly special to our time in Zanzibar. Also, we cannot forget the pristine ocean waters on our chosen day off. What a treat!

Something to keep in mind is that many of our drives were long. It’s a good idea to plan your fluid intake, since you won’t always know whether the next stop will have a proper toilet or just a hole in the ground.

We stayed at White Paradise, which absolutely lived up to its name. The beds were the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced while traveling, and the service was top-notch. Adela, from the hotel’s management team, went above and beyond to make us feel like family. She brought a personal touch that made the stay feel warm and welcoming. I want to go back and stay there again!

Part 2: A Snorkeling Excursion Nightmare (This part gets zero stars.)
While most of the trip was beautifully planned and executed, I also want to be honest about one terrible experience . The snorkeling day turned into a bit of a nightmare. The weather was clearly not in our favor. While no one can control the elements, the decision to go ahead with the excursion without offering an alternate experience or rescheduling was disappointing.

What was supposed to be a 30-minute boat ride turned into a rough and exhausting 1 hour and 45-minute journey on a rickety boat through intense, choppy waters. Four of the seven of us started to feel sick shortly after we took off. And those who weren’t sick were getting beat up by the constant slamming of the boat against the waves. To make matters worse, the boat didn’t even have enough proper life vests. I had to wear one that didn’t fit correctly, one of the girls was given a child-sized vest, and another vest had dark, questionable stains that made us feel even more uneasy.

Once we finally reached the reef, the snorkeling gear provided was poor quality, and the strong waves made it nearly impossible to use the snorkel properly. I snorkeled for about six minutes, mostly holding my breath and just trying to stay calm. It was a stressful and uncomfortable situation that could have been avoided with better planning by the company that was hired.

Final Thoughts
Despite the one horrible experience, this trip was filled with heart, adventure, connection, and unforgettable moments. Zanzibar is stunning, and experiencing it with @offtheclocknurse made all the difference. I’m so grateful for the memories we made and the people I got to share them with.

I booked this trip on a whim because Scotland was a place I have always wanted to visit and it was the best decision. Everything was so well organised, there was no pressure to do anything I wasn’t comfortable with like I’ve felt with other tour companies in the past, all in all it was the trip of a lifetime and I would definitely travel with this group again.

Just wrapped up an unforgettable South Africa adventure, and I can’t stop smiling! 🌍🐘 This was my third trip with the incredible @offtheclocknurse, and once again, she proved to be a truly amazing host. Her care, energy, and ability to create harmony and joy within the group made all the difference.

Kruger National Park was everything I imagined and more. We saw 4 of the Big 5 (those elusive rhinos are still hiding!). And Chobe National Park was the icing on the cake. The landscapes, the wildlife, the magic of it all.

One major highlight? Hanging at the edge of the world at Angel’s Pool… pure awe. The memories made on this trip will stay with me for a lifetime. Already counting down until the next one! 💛✈️🌿

A Week in Paris - The City of Light with Laura Caldwell

I had an amazing time! From my perspective, the entire trip went smoothly and was seamless. The hotel we stayed at was great, and it had an amazing breakfast! All the outings were well thought out and allowed for both sight-seeing and shopping. Our tour guide was incredible! He was easy to talk to, well informed about all the places we went to, and would chime in during the bus rides (which could be long with traffic) with information about what we were passing. Our hosts, Laura and Jesse, were also amazing! They made everyone feel welcome and included, and made a point to try get to know everyone. They also gave tips about what to expect, and helped anyone with an issue or if they were unsure how to do something. It was such a great experience; I intend to try to go on future trips with this group!

I had a great time in Paris. The trip accommodations, food and activities were excellent. A fabulous week filled with flea markets, historical sites, amazing tour guide and hosts. A fabulous time for meeting like minded guests, creating new friendships and experiencing Paris at its finest. The Pullman hotel was an outstanding place to be based out of. This is my second trip with Justine, Bali was a wonderful break, meeting new friends and creating new memories was magic while on the Inner Balance Retreat. The organisation pre trip was fantastic, the scheduling of just busy enough while also relaxing and taking in the environment and of course shopping was perfect. So easy, highly recommend.

The accommodation was first class along with the activities.  The itinerary was planned predominantly to accommodate  fun and enjoyable experiences with an abundance of free time to spend shopping, appointments at the day spa and drinking cocktails by the pool.

We at Best in Travel, strive to put together trips with our hosts that feature the best of a destination and it looks like this one hits just right. There is really no adequate way to describe in words how life-changing this trip was. It was my first hiking trek vacation, and, while I do enjoy hiking quite a lot and tend to be very active in my personal life, my vacations are usually quite sedentary in comparison. Lemme tell you, this has changed my perspective MASSIVELY. I'm determined from now on to intentionally schedule an active vacation once per year. 
The hiking was quite intense on most days, but, as an aforementioned active individual, it was not prohibitively strenuous and I never felt rushed, nor did I wake up with sore muscles. Some of this may be due to the accommodations scheduled by our wonderful guide, Kiera! Not only were these traditional Japanese inns/homes, but they often had options to use Western-style rooms as needed, and they always had an onsen, which was a wonderful experience to look forward to at the end of every long hike! The food in EVERY place was exceptional!!!! We were spoiled with every wonderful kind of Japanese food I could easily name and several I had never heard of before!!! Everything tasted DELICIOUS! And despite working very hard on our hikes, I never felt remotely calorie deficient or as if I wasn't given ample opportunity to purchase delicious snacks as needed! The places we saw, the rural communities we hiked through, the interactions we got to have were simply magical, one of a kind, and endlessly memorable. Spending time on the quiet trail either talking with my new friends (the other ladies on the trek) or peacefully contemplating really were priceless experiences and I am so so grateful and pleased that I was lucky enough to experience this side of Japan thanks to the organization and patience of Kiera and the we travel organization. Thank you SO MUCH!!!

Visiting Italy was always a dream of mine and this trip far exceeded my expectations. The hotels were fabulous. They all had unique personalties and were so memorable. Our host, Jen Coffey, is so inspirational. Not only did she always make sure everyone's needs were taken care of, she threw in extras such as a vision board class and meditations. Our guide was amazing. She got to know us and made sure to point out places and things that were important to us. I didn't know the other ladies before the tour and we all became friends. I was in tears when it was time to say goodbye to Italy and the group. I am looking forward to another tour with Jen. I know it will be a special trip if she is planning it with this company.

All the activities left me feeling like I coulda went home after day two happy! It was such a special trip and would do it 100 times again 🙏🏼

I wish I could give this trip 100 stars!  Five just doesn't feel like enough!  I couldn't ask for anything better- "no notes", as they say. :) From the communication before the trip began, to the airport pickups, the hotels, our host, Jennifer Coffey, our tour Guide, Diana, our driver, Franco, and all of the local guides- every last thing was absolutely perfect on this tour.  Puglia is such a beautiful region, it was an amazing experience to explore it with this group. If you are feeling on the fence about booking a trip with Best in Travel- just DO IT!  I am a detail-oriented person and usually no one can out-do me in organizing and planning travel- but I really found my match with Best in Travel.  Their attention to every little detail, and flexibility to adjust things to the group's needs and desires were really surprising and appreciated.  I felt so well taken care of, and made some great new friends. Diana, our guide for the week, was absolutely so wonderful- the very best at what she does!  I never want to travel without her!  She was kind, smart, and knowledgeable about every aspect of the trip- and she was just generally a joy to be around.

Each hotel was better than the last- which is not always easy to do in Europe.  We stayed in a few great hotels, including a medieval monastery, and also a super modern luxury hotel- different but both beautiful, comfortable and in prime, convenient locations right in the center of everything.

We had our own bus and driver, Franco, for the week.  Franco was also wonderful- he loaded and unloaded our bus so many times, with all of our many bags, and was always happy and friendly and always where he was supposed to be at the right time.  Both Franco and Diana were so flexible to change plans last minute according to the group's desires- they treated us as VVIPs.

I would take this trip ten more times if I could- it was absolutely perfect!  Thanks to Rob at Best in Travel, to Jen Coffey, Diana, Franco and everyone else behind the scenes that paid attention to every detail!  You all made this a wonderful experience, WELL worth the cost of admission!

I had such a great experience on this trip. I loved that the agency made an effort to book hotels that are smaller and locally owned.  There was good variety in the cities and the tours we took and plenty of time to explore on our own. The tour guides were all fantastic and I learned so much from them. Leah was a great host and I'll definitely be travelling with her again in the future and this travel agency.

Kiera made this trip run so smoothly. She was an amazing leader and encouraged us every step of the way. We experienced very traditional accomodation, and consistently great food. The experiences we had were unique and very interesting, and I wouldn’t have been able to organise them myself. It was very memorable and I appreciate all of the organisation that was done, to make this trip such a success.
